If it actually happens I can see it being popular.
Popular amongst Titan fans, yes. But I dont think it will pull significant sales away from other brands.

The Diesel TUNDRA on the other hand will give the Ram Diesel 1500 something to worry about.

the Tundra is gaining some traction. if they offer a diesel it'll just make it more attractive

I am a new ED owner and selling my Nissan SUV. When I was at Nissan dealer in Canada a saleman did confirm that the Titan is coming w/ the 5 L cummings. Believe it when I see it as I think sometimes they just say things......

Love my new ED, 3 weeks and counting! Like the look, performance (except payload).... If the Colorado w/ a 2.8L diesel was for sale and a heck of a lot cheaper, it would have been in the running (pending specs, fuel economy, towing needs,....)

Nissan will turn some heads. When they released the Titan back in the early 2000's, they made the Big3 change to compete with there truck. That 5.6L was a beast and whooped on the Hemi. Nissan appears to be really trying with this next generation Titan, I wouldn't underestimate them. As for Toyota, they don't like to change a lot (proof in the Tacoma not changing since 2006 & Tundra is pretty much the same since 2007). My guess is Toyota will either just wedge the engine in to the current truck or maybe launch a 3/4 ton frame. The latter would babe more exciting though.

But our truck and the Japanese trucks are not in the same class. That 5.0L Cummins will pull more and be faster, but will not get the MPG our trucks do. Will still be intereresting.

Indeed, I do not like the looks of the Nissan.

A 5 liter C sounds great, but mileage i estimate will be in the low 20s hwy.

I agree in this case, the V6 will be more efficient than the V8. But it has to do with displacement, not the number of cylinders. Perhaps you meant to say "The 3.0 is always more fuel efficient than the 5.0"

Fewer cylinders usually means smaller displacement, but not always. The Cummins diesel in the Ram HD has only 6 cylinders and is less efficient than the Cummins V8.
equal displacement 8 vs 6 the 6 is more efficient, I said what I meant.
