I see lots of posts on here sharing great mileage reports, but as far as I can tell most everyone posting has the 3.55 gears. I'm looking at a truck that has the 3.92 option. I know it would be a bit better for towing power, but I'm wondering how much of that great 27 or 28 mpg mileage you give up when running the 3.92 unloaded? Does anyone have any real world experience with 3.92 fuel mileage in daily commuting and freeway realms?

Thanks,
Brian F.

I have the 3.92 gears, I was cruising to edmonton for 2 weeks straight and I was getting 9.8l/100km avg on the highway runs @ 125km/h, thats reset when leaving the city to my driveway in Red Deer. That is on a brand new laramie with less than 1000km when I started the 2 weeks of runs to Edmonton.

I have a Laramie with 3.92. My everyday average driving back and forth to work is 9.8L/100km. Its 15km each way to work with part back road and part through town. It is slowly dropping down from last weekends towing trip. I have done two road trips so far with it. One was from Trenton Ontario to Petawawa Ontario which was around 600km round trip. On that one I averaged 7.9l/100km and the second trip was from Trenton Ontario to McArthur Mills Ontario which was around 300km towing a 12 foot trailer with 2 atvs on it. For this trip I hard accelerated up all hills and did everything you would expect to give you horrible mileage (Says in manual to give it a hard break in) and I averaged 11.2L/100km. The 2012 Hemi I traded in for this would have gotten about 15L/100km doing the same.
