Cam50cam...
Welcome.
See you chose an introduction with a problem. My take on the oil smell is you have little experience with diesel engines. Historically diesel engines both dirty their oil quickly and that oil has a bad smell.
This engine uses synthetic oil. I agree it did have a different smell during the first few miles than my experience with diesels and petroleum-based oils. Still, that was not unusual. My conclusion is you have experience with dino oil in gasoline engines and bring that experience to your diesel.
Forget the oil/smell issue. It's probably normal. Also, stop smelling your oil. Smell deer musk and know there's a big coming around you might get a shot at. That has more value.
As for all the codes ... what codes?
Assume you own a code reader and read the codes. If the dealer did it they were surely able to both interpret the codes and fix the problem. What was the problem?
