Chips?

Looking for a little help on chips. So I've been tooling around looking at HD chips just for general information and then I've also been hunting for chips compatible with the Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel.

So what I've come to understand is these chip makers all offer substantial hp/torque gains, while some of them even advertise MPG improvements. I'm confused as to how they can offer performance boosts and MPG improvements?

Secondly, has anyone seen any options for the GC EcoDiesel that we can use for the RAM? Although I do suppose the likes of BullyDog and Banks will be playing here eventually...

i'd wait. considering the ram diesel isn't really out yet

i'd give it some time before messing with the tuning.
They offer more performance and MPG gains by retuning the ECU for better fuel and mixture ratio and MANY other things to do with fuel and air and maybe others.
what is a popular brand for chips or add on tuners for the ram trucks? never really looked into it.

Bully Dog is one of them, at least one that im most familiar with.
being a diesel im surprised there isnt more chatter about this.
There could be, maybe not so quick for it to spread on the forums. Im sure in a matter of time people will be asking and talking about it. Just a matter of time
BullyDog is junk.

You're likely to see Edge and BullyDog, after that it's a crap shoot. First to market will be plug-in modules that simply fool the ECM. Programmers may potentially follow, but with the EPA there likely won't be any DPF/SCR delete, at least not for a while.

The real interesting thing will be transmission tuning, as that will go a long way in helping the 8 speed hold any additional power.

BTW, they aren't referred to as chips any more...programmers and modules. Might save a smart remark about Doritos or Pringles...
Just for you gas truck guy's !

The 2 best tuners for the dodge 5.9 & 6.7 Diesel right now are the H&S Tuner and the Smarty tuner that's made by Mads Electronics. In my opinion. I have both.

With a Diesel you will get more HP & Torque & more Miles per gallon with a tuner. With a gas truck you will get more HP with a turner but your gas millage will be worse.

I'm sure it won't be long before they make a tuner for the new 3.0L. That's when I'll buy the new truck.

There are tuners being used on the GC right now. Some owners have been using products from Bluespark and Chip Express since November. A good link here:
