Chrysler is recalling several vehicles because of a possible flaw with their automatic transmissions.

The campaign affects 5,663 units spread across the 2013 Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300 and Ram 1500 pickup trucks. In some circumstances, Chrysler says components could fracture. Affected vehicles are equipped with specific features and equipment are equipped with four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic and a V6 engine.

“Output shafts installed in some 2013 vehicles were shaped using a two-stage forging method employed during early production,” said Chrysler in a statement. “The resulting components may be subject to fracture in rare circumstances.”

Since early production, Chrysler has moved to a one-stage process.

A specific date for the recall campaign hasn’t been set yet, but owners can call Chrysler at (800) 853-1403 with questions. The company will test the output shafts and replace the transmission assemblies if necessary.

Does the recall include diesel Ram 1500s as well as petrol Ram 1500s?

5,663 really isn't that many. It shouldn't affect that many people.
The article did a horrible job at specifying what models but as I find out more info i'll keep this thread updated.

Not the biggest deal IMO. I'd hate to have my vehicle recalled, but this isn't the biggest recall. "Fracture in rare circumstances" doesn't sound the most dangerous either. It doesn't make me think less of Ram at all.
