ECT problem

Just bought a new 2014 eco day before yesterday and last night the ECT light started coming on everytime I slowed to stop at either a light or stop sign. It then would not respond to accelerator pressure for several seconds before surging forward in a normal manner.. Very disconcerting to say the least. Great Christmas surprise for my brand new truck....I guess I'll start researching how serious this is/can be while my dealer is closed for Christmas..Any insight would be appreciated..Thanks
