Greetings, everyone.

I purchased an ED back in May 2015 and have been absolutely in love with this truck. I found it to be absolutely flawless; until about 15,000mi. At at point, I developed the low oil pressure warning. As with many of you, I was told the engine was blown and FCA was replacing it under warranty.

Replacing the engine is concerning to me. I feel like I'm now in for a lifetime of problems with the vehicle and possibly a lower resale value. I'm curious if anyone here with a similar situation can share their experiences in terms of reliability after engine replacement.

Thanks!

Hey Sawbonez,

I just had the same experience. I bought my ED in July 2014. Have loved the truck. I had a few electrical issues over the last 18 months and yea it was a pain in the ass to deal with BUT I still love the truck and had no engine issues. UNTILL 3 days ago. I was accelerating onto the highway when I heard a very loud rattling noise from the engine and it died immediately. Just today the dealer was able to diagnose it. They didn't give me very much technical information other than to say that the engine is seized up and will need to be replaced. WOW. What a pain in the ass. I have never had this kind of experience with any vehicle. The dealer has no idea how long this will take yet. They will provide a loaner in the meantime. The service technician indicated that he has seen this happen to EcoDiesels 4 times. Which is more info than most of those guys will let slip. They always act like this is the first time they have seen whatever problem you are in for. (Which is a load of BS). You know they see the same problems over and over. Anyway, my RAM has been a love/hate vehicle. I love the design and the concept of getting great mileage out of a full size truck. BUT I hate it being in the shop so **** much.

Good luck with your truck and I'll keep followers posted on how things turn out.

Thanks for the reply, HVAC man.

Still sitting here without my truck; 15 days in the shop so far since I purchased it. I called the dealership and they state it will probably be another week.

I'm at a loss what to do next; this is the only truck on the market that meets all of my needs. I commute during the week, and tow during weekends. My savings in fuel have offset having a more expensive truck.

Everyone around me keeps saying "just demand a new truck" or "just lemon law it" --- as if it's easy to do. It's a nightmare. I've already talked to an attorney; and it doesn't currently qualify yet anyway.

I'd love to hear how the trucks are doing that have had their engines replaced.

Did you have to go through a lemon law or was this done through arbitration?
