ED Motor issue

2014 1500 Ram ED 4x2 Laramie, build date of May 2014. 1 oil change at 10k performed by dealer. All recalls taken care of immediately by the dealer.

Just shy of 20K miles and 3 weeks ago, leaving a client there was a loss of power, severe shaking, and a loud clicking/knocking sound changing in sound the faster I went. No warning lights and all the gauges were normal.
I pull over shut it off and turn it back on, the problem was still there. I was 50 miles away from my home Dealer, (living in LA 50 miles is about 2 hours away in heavy traffic). I googled the closest dealer and found it was 4 miles away. After limping my way to that dealer I told them the problem and they hooked it up to the computer and told me that injector #3 is not working. So, I get it towed to my home dealer, explained to the service manager the problem and he told me that an ED has never come in with that problem.

SUPER!! Stump the dealer!!!

Week 1, they told me that injector #3 needed to be replaced but they were back-ordered but found one at another dealer and it would take a couple of days to get. Then, they didn't order the injector sleeve/boot to go with it so we had to wait for that to come in.

Week 2, they told me that when they installed the new injector and hooked it up to the computer and charged the system the computer told them that injector #4 was below nominal pressure and it needed to be replaced. Parts still back-ordered but found one at another dealer and was able to get it.

Week 3, they told me that after installing new injector and hooking it up to the computer the pressures were not right and it was clicking/knocking loud like a misfire. They called corporate service and begin to diagnose the problem further and they decided the next course of action is to replace the cylinder heads... This is where I am at.

Has anyone out there ever had or heard of this issue with the ED?

Me too! waiting on a new motor, it's been 1 month now and I'm told two more months till the motor is available. Also loud knocking sound, another just came in to the dealer by my home 2000 miles and also needs new motor. What's going on?
The service tech said that he thinks that this is an isolated incident. He called around to 6 other dealers in our area and the most the have had to replace was the fuel system. It is how he thinks the valve dropped that has me wonder if it has anything to do with this TSB 09-006-15. He thinks that a valve seal came apart and it got between the valve and rocker arm and some how causing the valve to break. I wanted him to continue to take apart the motor and take off the cylinder head and take a deeper look in the motor. He did not, since FCA already approved a new motor he didn't need to go further just to put it back together and send to R&D. Labor being about $180 an hour and at least 24 hours logged on my problem already they do not want to do anything unnecessary. By my rough guess, this issue is going to FCA at least 15K - 20K when all is said and done.
When did they say you can get a motor? I have to wait three months.
I was told that there are 50 motors coming in late October early November, from the plant in Italy. I was told the tentative date for the dealer to get mine is October 27.

****, mine's been in the shop since Sept 5th, and my motor tentative date is Nov 30th.
My motor was installed today, service tech said it will be all back together by Friday and ready for start up.
Mine was towed in on Sept 5th and they tell me I still have over a month before my motor comes in.
out more than 30 days I would have called my attorney and proceeded with lemon law.
Motor came in Friday, just waiting for the call that it's done. The Lemon Law Attorney keeps calling me, but I would have to pay $6000-$7000 more for a new truck. I got a friends and family deal through someone and don't think I can get the same deal.
As of Friday they still could not get it started. I cranks 3 times and stops, does not start. They replaced the electronic distribution unit, as per the FCA know it all engineers, and still no joy. The impression that I am getting is that the FCA engineers have no idea why it is not starting and making the service tech replace things until it turns on. I am going to give them until next Friday and if they still not have figured out how to get it started I am going to call FCA and discuss a buy back, if they refuse I will lawyer up and force it.
My motor arrived 10 days ago, but still they haven't finished putting the new motor in yet. I don't get it!
