no they did not get a deal at all. It talks about it in the article that the dealer did not budge at all on price off MSRP and that if they did not buy it the dealer was going to add a $4K mark up on it.

I am glad I just ordered mine for about $8000 off MSRP with all rebates and stuff

You gain perspective from these articles. In the year they have it everyone on the staff for the most part will drive it. Some will be truck people and some won't. Some will push it hard and some won't. They will all wright about their experiences with it though from different points of view about the exact configuration of a vehicle. I find it interesting to see what people do with it that maybe I won't and what they get out of it.

Not a lease. They always buy all the cars at the best price they can negotiate and then will sell the vehicle after 1 year (private party) and they measure the depreciation as part of the review as well

makes sense, and being a publication they have more of a chance to get it for super cheap, at least cheaper than anyone of the general public
