:O
how did you like it?

where?
how?
hows the interior?
Sorry I had no explanation just pics. Was in the middle of making up the thread and had to go take care of my son so I just put the pics up to see if I could spark some interest. I ran to the dealer this morning to get some work done on my wife's '11 wk2. Took a '14 ram express crew cab for a ride and was talking to the salesman....asked if they had any ecodiesels in stock. They told me not until January. I finish up there and head to my next stop. On my way in the parking lot I look over and there it sets!!!! So I go inside and there are two lady's and one guy. I asked the guy if it was his and he says yes. I asked how he got one and he tells me it's a long story. So I let him finish what he's doing and ask him if he minds if I check out his truck. His wife happened to be getting her hair done and he wanted to go to the coffee shop and get some D.D. I don't usually do this but I couldn't pass up the chance to go for a ride in it so as we were looking at it I ask if he minds if I ride down with him to check it out. So inside and out its a beautiful truck. He remote started it up after about 5 seconds it fires up....I couldn't believe how quiet it was for a diesel. I would say it compares to my grandfathers 2008 cummins. Sitting inside the cab you couldn't even hear it. So ask how he has it....he explains he is some sort of engineer for RAM doing fast feedback for there new vehicles. He tells me it's Only 1 of 9 in the country right now!!!!! Whether that's true or not I don't know but everything seemed legit to me. He gave me his business card and seemed to know what he was talking about. Interior would be as nice as any top of the line ram. It had all the bells and whistles. He put it to the floor on the highway and power was ok. I would say just from my opinion that the hemi would beat it. Where it really shines is mileage. He showed me the on screen computer it said 23.2 and he told me that was around town and letting it idle in the morning to warm up. He said he got nearly 30 mpg coming from Baltimore to pa. I don't know of any hemi that will get that kind of mpg. 8 gallon DEF tank. Overall I was very impressed with the truck. He did tell me you probably won't be seeing them in the dealers until March at the earliest. If you guys have any other questions I will try and answer them.

I'm glad to hear that the fuel economy is living up to our expectations. Can't believe you got to ride in one of only nine in the country.

Are you convinced? Will you be buying the Diesel Ram 1500?

yea RAM is on record saying if you intend to tow heavily and regularly they recommend the HEMI. Keep in mind it is only a 6.

as for interior I would expect it to be inline with the rtest of the RAM lineup, you can equip the EcoDiesel to any 1500 trim pack except for the HFE...

push button start, how FANCY!

thanks for the insight man, really really cool!
Wow, lucky guy, seems like it was a blast! Thanks for the write up and pictures.

Am I convinced? Im not sure. I have never owned a RAM truck yet. Not to mention I have never owned a new vehicle. Im the kind of guy that buys year or two old trucks with low mileage on them. I will probably wait and let somebody else try and test them before I think about dropping $50k on a truck. Im sure the guys that WANT one will buy one no questions asked. I would have no hesitation if it was in the less frills truck and wasn't the first model year. He said when they first come out it will probably only be in the nicer trucks.

Fair enough, i'm also waiting on people to get theirs just so i really know what im getting myself into. Better safe than sorry

Really? I would think that dropping the EcoDiesel into the base workman would help boost fleet sales. I know those guys crave efficiency.
very lucky

i am still very interested to know HOW he has one so early...

the guy was a RAM engineer. But I think they're starting to trickle into dealerships...

Interesting.
from everything I have gathered, the eco diesel is a excellent powertrain. the only thing I don't like is the gearing options by model. the 3.92 gearing isn't available in all models with eco diesel. tradesman and Laramie are the only models you can build it with. im buying one in the next 8 months. I race motocross and run a small landscape business. it will work great for me. I am excited to see the mpg results for city driving. im hoping I can use the air suspension with a small light duty snowplow, we will see....

Wow, it pays to be an engineer and you got lucky getting that experience early.

Has anyone checked with dealers on when they will arrive?
I bet that guy must get approached often about it.
