I just picked up my new truck this weekend. So far after 3 days of ownership I love it. I've been using this forum as a source for information since I started looking back in March. I hope to gain some knowledge and maybe provide some myself along the way.

I really wanted a 4x4 but realize 99.9% of the time I don't need it. Besides I was able to get a deal on a Longhorn 4x2 out the door for $3k less than a 4x4 SLT. I happened to luck into a demo with 5300 miles on it.

Two Tone Bright White Crew cab with Cattle Tan/Blk interior. 4x2 Crew Cab. No air ride suspension, but just about everything else.

Congrats, however i would have spent 3K more.. Always better to have and not need then need and not have.

I never thought i would need 4x4 until a suprise storm stuck my family and i on the side of the mountian in NC. Snowed 2 ft out of nowhere. No forcast or anything...

If only it were that easy.

That would be my thoughts exactly if only it were that easy. I managed to get this truck for 28% off the sticker price. It was too good of a deal to pass up. If I could find a Longhorn 4x4 for $3k more than I paid, I'd be all over it! And besides I live in the Phoenix area so 2 feet of snow really isn't something I have to worry about. I figure I bought this one so well, if I find myself needing or wanting 4wd later, I could sell it or trade it and still recover most if not all of my money.

Congratulations, you got what I would have wanted and you managed 28% off MSRP!

That's almost worth flying out to phoenix and buying at the same dealership and driving cross country back to Florida. But that drive across 1-10 through Texas kills it ;)

Thanks for the feedback guys. But keep in mind it was a demo with 5000 miles on the clock, so although its still considered new...it did have a bit of use. They did do an oil change, top it off with a full tank of fuel and topped off the DEF tank though.

I still have a lot to learn about diesel engines. This is my first.

Congratulations Chief. I would have done the same. That is a fantastic discount you were able to get. Hope to have my order arrive in a week or two. Looking forward to it getting here. Be safe and enjoy your new ride. It's a beauty.

So far I'm loving the truck. Its probably the most comfortable and luxurious vehicle I've ever owned, plus I'm averaging 27-28 mpg in mixed driving according to the EVIC. It has plenty of power when you need it, and gets 30+ on the highway at 70mph. I still can't get over how quiet it is. I just need to get used to parking a full size truck again.

Although calling some of these "trucks" may be a bit of a stretch, I've owned a '91 Nissan Pathfinder, '97 Ram 1500 extended cab 4x4, 2003 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab 4x4, Lexus RX 300, Lexus RX400h and a 2010 Ram 1500 Laramie Quad Cab (only owned it for 2 days...but thats another story). I've also driven my dads '87 Dakota, '93 Dakota, and '05 Ram 2500.

The Dakota is the perfect sized truck for what I need, but they don't make it anymore. I can only imagine how cool a mid-sized truck with the 3.0 ED would be.
