HI,

I currently have a 1500 V8 Hemi and drive about 70 miles/day to work. I was looking at buying the 1500 ecodiesel and hoped some of you could help me out

I have seen 1500 Ecodiesels for sale around $40k new and am looking at the 4x4 model. I tow a boat and trailer during the summer that weighs about 5,500lbs, plus another 1,000 of gear in the bed. Do you think this truck can tow that comfortably? We usually go down to TN and KY to boat and there are a few decent size hills, plus pulling the boat out of the water there can be really steep, slippery grades at the boat ramps.

Are all the ecodeisels "turbo" or are there two models? Have seen some articles refer to the "turbo" engine and others not reference it.

Any problems with these trucks a new buyer should be wary of and is $40k a good price?

Appreciate your thoughts and feedback

The eco comes in all models of 1/2 ton ram except for the sport I believe, from plain jane work truck all the way up to the limited like mine. I am very happy with mine overall with a couple small items like my nav not having a way to shut off the naging woman trying to recalibrate lol. The 40g's sounds about right but I'm sure you could find something cheaper if you don't mind losing some of the bells and whistles. If I had one major thing to complain about would be the fuel milage, most of the guys on here say they are getting 25-28 mpg yet my truck has yet to get over 21. I just was in for a service and asked if they could check for me but the results were "everything is fine just put some more miles on it",so I'm not letting it worry me.The ride and comfort make up for any milage I'm losing.Towing 5500 and carrying 1000 will be fine just make sure your trailer brakes work good.I have a 9000 lb bumper pull rv that makes the fiat work its heart out but no troubles so far. Good luck on your purchase.

Hello, I drive almost 125 miles round trip each day to work. My truck is sitting down in the parking garage right now with 25.6 MPG on the tank. I have the 3:96 gears and know without a doubt that my truck would do everything you are asking it to do and in a **** of a lot of comfort! My 07 Ram Hemi was great too but at average 16mpg...the choice was a total slam dunk. I have almost 22,000 on it and its perfect. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately there are so many posts on here about problems with the truck and dodge's crappy customer service that I'm just not gonna fool with buying one. Don't need the headache.
