I am getting ready to do my first oil change on my new truck. I looked in my manual and saw it said I would need 8 quarts of oil. My dad just bought the same truck and his manual says it takes 10.5 quarts of oil. How much oil do you use? We did just notice that my book says it is the third edition, and my dad's is the 4th edition. My oil quantity is listed on page 202. my dad's is listed on page 209. Thanks for the input.

Early printed books were WRONG. Mine also says 8 qts. and that is WRONG.

It's is 10.5 qts. Buy 11 qts when changing, add 10 at first, run it a bit and then "top it off".
Pennzoil Ulra Euro L 5-30 seems to be the least expensive, readily available and meets specs.

This is good advice for changing the oil in any car. Put less than you think, run it to fill the oil filter, let it sit for ~15 minutes then top it off to the marks on the dip stick. (obviously make sure the car is level)

I had a dealer that would consistently overfill my 2010 liberty, when I asked the mechanic why he does this he said, "I just dump 5.5 liters in every one, that's what the manual says". I changed my own oil after that.
