Ram 1500 Diesel Starts Production

I know it has been mentioned in other threads but it is worth noting alone that the Ram Ecodiesel 1500 will start production at the end of this month!

Sales are expected to begin February. (as in they will start taking orders)

They wont confirm this but many sources seem to point towards this.

I'm not sure when the car will actually ship though. People seem to be hopeful. The initial batch of diesel-powered Rams will reportedly be pre-spec versions, which are units not ordered by dealers. After that first 1,000 unit production run, dealers will begin taking customer orders in February.

So you can't order before February though? I was hoping that you would be able to pre-order and then await them actually being put on sale and arriving in showrooms and on dealership lots.

Also, is this true for Canada as well as the US?

It's stated in the original post above that they are taking orders for diesel ram 1500's. You can order one right now, at this very moment.

Some dealers have started taking orders now. But I believe officially they are starting to take orders in February.

Has anyone who ordered one gotten any sort of ordering guide that includes the diesel engine?

To be honest dealers might just be taking orders for regular 1500s and just making note that its for the diesel model.

Unless their systems already have the diesel in place.

They should have diesel listed and even getting the brochures and order guides. If we can order them now likely they have the info to inform sales people on what they're selling.

Last i checked they didn't have the diesel option in the system. But you can just build any other model to get an idea, difference might be a few thousand.

You can build and price a 1500 with a diesel option on the ram trucks site. Selecting that option is $2,850. I really wanted a sport with the diesel option and they are not offering a diesel with the sport package for some reason.

I stopped in the Lithia Dodge in Santa Rosa, CA to see if they happen to have an Ecodiesel on the lot. Salesman said no (which I sort of expected) and then said they won't be coming out for a few more months. No hint of, "Hey, but we'll be happy to take your order.."

wow, not even offering to take an order isn't a good sign unless he didn't think you were serious.

it depends on the dealer.
seems like some dealers have started taking orders. my local dealer is taking names and numbers down on a list.

i glanced and the list seems to be over a dozen folks.

When I walked in, there was no point man waiting at the front door. So maybe it's common for the salesmen inside not to take the walk-in customer (like me) until the point dude gets 1st crack?

I ordered mine on feb 7th. Got an email from Chrysler confirmed my order was placed.
