Of all the vehicles being sold in the US, the Ram Pickup was the 5th best selling vehicle in the US for the month of May, 2014. This is actually a spot or two behind where the Ram Pickup normally ends up. Volume went up 17% in May, which means that Ram led its pickup rivals in terms of percentage growth in May. Light duty sales rose 14%, and heavy duty models went up 34%.

4. Honda Accord - 39,637
5. Ram Pickup - 37,131
6. Toyota Corolla/Matrix
7. Honda Civic - 36,089

That's true, but Ram usually does a bit better. And I think that it is due to the Ram not selling as much, not because one of the vehicles above it had a really good month.

I don't think that Ram can base its strategy on how it is going to beat Ford, it needs to just focus on making the best product possible. That's the only way to steal market share from Ford.
