Looks like we may get an Inline 4 option.. However if you look at the link below. it has way less power and not availible for the truck. I wonder if they will move it into the cars.. Just intresting

I wonder if they will move it into a new small truck, something to fight the Colorado? Ford says they're working on a new Ranger as well, or sorry, considering...

Interesting for sure.

I just hope sergio isn't torpedoing the relationship with Cummins in favour of in house motori. Cummins has that new 2.8L 4 which would fit beautifully, 210 hp and 385 lb-ft/torque don't sound half bad either...

In the truck world we're used to using diesels to out power and outlast huge V8 gas engines. There is another way to use a diesel and that's to get better fuel economy and still outlast. This is what they need for small load vehicles and cars.

I've driven diesel VW's since the early 80s. The first rabbit I had was non turbo and only had 68 hp. It was slow as molasses getting on the highway and forget about passing anyone but it would get batter than 50 mpg and go for 300,000 kms. 4 cyl gas engines of the day couldn't even touch this. For a commuter, this is heaven.

If it's as smooth, quiet and clean as the 3.0l ED it will do well in light trucks with low payload. Think about taking brush to the dump or moving a dresser across town, and cars.

Blockbuster ...If they do it.

My wife would flat out L O V E one regular Cherokee. Local dealer will literally NOT deal on the Grand Cherokee and they have almost 20 diesels on their lot. Strange how you can get 8 grand off the Eco in a 1500 and no more than 3 grand off a 40K plus Grand Cherokee with the same engine.

*** No way can I get that link to work. Tried twice and both times it locked up this computer.
Would like to see this in a Jeep Wrangler.
