Considering buying a 1500 4x4 diesel crew cab to tow a 24’ toy hauler est. 6,000 lbs fully loaded (lightest tandem axle TH I could find). Running the numbers, the GVW doesn’t look good but my husband and I have a hard time believing this truck wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Towing will primarily be weekend trips to nearby locations, however we will be taking one cross-country, one-way road trip (without ~500 lb ATV) as we relocate to Alaska (not driving the Alcan Hwy).
What say the experts?

*Specs pulled from RAM online manuals, but I understand every truck varies a bit.
