So while playing with pricing and packages something strange jumped out at me. RAM is charging an extra $1000 for the 8 speed (845RE) auto coupled with the EcoDiesel. It wouldn't be an issue to me if I was given the option to take the 6 speed (65RFE) which is readily available with the base V6 or the HEMI upsell, yet the Ecodiesel has been left out of the "free" gearbox option...

I'm not sure if this is the same down in the states or not...

It looks like there is a $500 up-charge here in the states. Of course, that gets laundered down a bit through negotiations.

I think the problem is, the ecodiesel is a $2850 up grade from the Hemi, but because you have to get the 8 speed (@ $500 or $1000 in Canada). The diesel up grade is actually $3350 ($3850 in Canada) not $2850.
That is exactly the problem. Not much to be done on my end, just a little upset about the hidden upsell thats all...

You know I do wonder what kind of mileage numbers the EcoDiesel would show with the 65RFE 6 speed...

Because going by the 3,6 6 and the 5.7 8 there is only a 1 MPG drop off in the city and 2 on the highway. If the EcoDiesel already pulls down 20/23/28 with the 8 speed why cant they offer the 6 speed at 19/22/26? Still blows the door off the industry...

Gotta love those hidden fees. It doesn't really seem like they should be able to charge you for an upgrade if you have to buy the upgrade. If you have to buy it it should just be included in the price from the beginning. I for one am not too happy to hear about this.

Thats how it should be.
I bet some sales guys have to deal with a ton of super pissed off customers that discover that.
