Good evening ladies and gents. So I'm currently in the nicest truck I've ever owned. It's an F150 Platinum screw with a 5.4. Leveled with airbags in the rear to lift the sag when hauling toys. But here's the kicker, I get 11 miles to the gallon........yes, I said 11. Eleven. One more than 10. One less than 12...... It's killing my wallet and im tired of it. No more big tires and lifts for me. I'm more concerned with having a nice truck that gets good mileage, performs well, and is solidly built. I'm not a stranger to diesels. I had an 06 F250 with a powerSTROKE.......stroke being the operative word as it blew the head gasket twice so I got into a jeep, then this 2010 F150. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good truck but I'm ready for a change and I am very interested in the EcoD. I spent some time on YouTube watching reviews and I see one guy that consistently puts out good videos. One thing that scares me about this truck is according to his video this engine has a significant amount of oil blowback that makes its way to the inter cooler and eventually into the turbo. According to him it can cause some sever issues and significantly affect performance and longevity. He worked on a mod and seems to have solved the issue with some aftermarket products. Can any of you senior members / technicians elaborate on this issue and mod that collects the oil blowback? If I get this truck I will likely be ordering a pretty loaded up truck with most of the bells and whistles including the air suspension as I haul toys occasionally and love that feature. I am not afraid to mod a truck but modding an engine gets iffy when it comes to keeping a warranty in tact. Anyhow, there seems to be some good info here so I will keep reading. Thanks for any input and help you folks can give! Happy new year!

You bought that 6.0 International diesel? On o the worst engines in automotive history. Ford sure was ignorant with their customers on that one.

Don't feel bad now. One of my sons bought one, got screwed when it broke then bought another. No accounting for stupid. He has a Duramax now. Then you bought another Ford???

It's well known that the fuel mileage on many Ford gas pickup engines is poor. The Ecodiesel is double that. Only thing now is you read a lot. Bet you read something posted by guys real interested in tearing apart the Ecodiesel to legitimately be sure they can get hundreds of thousnds of miles from the engines. Mustangshawn is like that. Great, creative mechanical skills keep him into checking and creating fixes that may or may not be necessary.

There are failures to everything made. Few involve the turbo but there surely are some and I read of two.Would not give that a thought. By far the majority majority majority of us have no problems with the Ecodiesel.

Welcome.

I've watched the same video and it had me thinking as well. So I went out and started my truck, & pulled my oil cap......zero splatter coming out. I'm not worried.

Regardless of what someone buys, there is always the potential of a bad unit. Or quite simply it's someone having buyers regret and finding stuff to pick apart.

Just one question. ..is your current ride lifted with large tires? Reason I ask is a good friend of mine has a 10 screw f 150 lariat with the 5.4 and we got 19.1 with two ktms in the bed and our gear on a 5 hour round trip. Empty on the highway he gets 20-21 driving conservatively.

If the tires and lift are killing your mileage, I'd consider going back to a stock set up before spending 55 grand. Just my .02. I simply needed a full size truck as I was in a quad cab dakota and my family out grew what I had. Size wise you will gain nothing. Mileage wise you will certainly gain significantly. Now depending on what you tow, you may be disappointed in the cargo ratings/ tow ratings. Your Ford most likely has a higher tow capacity. ....possibly quite a bit depending on how your Ford is set up.

Not trying to talk you out of an ed, just giving you something to think about. I absolutely love mine! Good luck and ask away!!
