Water in fuel sensor trouble

Hello all,
I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Ecodiesel and my water in fuel warning light came on. I drained the filter twice, still on and then I took it to the dealer for a filter change just in case I was doing it wrong. $264.00 later the warning light still on telling me to drain the filter. The dealer said it might be a sensor problem and wanted another $149.00 to check it out. Having already been robbed of way too much money to let them go any further, I left.

Please help me, I will be very grateful for any advise from those of you that may have also experienced this problem.

Did you find out what the issue was? I'm having the same issue, not getting any water from the fuel filter drain. Replaced the fuel filter and still getting the water in fuel message with one tone in run and starting. The manual mentions that it could be a sensor malfunction. Have an appointment at the dealer next week but hesitant to drive my truck. BTW, changing the fuel filter is easier than changing the oil. $50 part.
